Filtered through my alter-ego Katonya, a visual artist, featured in my video soap opera series Conversation wit de Churen, the work represents traveling down the road of life in search of love and peace with a broken heart that has yet to be healed. A sign with an arrow pointing west with the words "Peace Out West," a sign with an arrow pointing east, with words "Love Will Find A Way," and a broken heart illustrates the theme. The buildings inspired by Romare Bearden’s The Block represent my life in New York City (the north) and the houses, trees, and flowers represent my life in the rural south. The muscle car, a symbol of my love for vintage cars, remind me of my father and the Route 66 theme story arc I appeared in, on the daytime soap opera General Hospital in 2010, playing the fictional character Kalup Ishmael.
